Data Architect (Owings Mills, MD)
Alderson Loop is looking for a Data Architect to provide database support on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals. Responsibilities include supporting numerous IBM application environments & teams leveraging DB2 LUW databases, planning and performing database configuration, maintenance, upgrading, patching, and performing manual switches to system components, and monitoring/making recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance. The Data Architect will participate fully in 24x7x365 on-call rotations for production support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
6+ years of experience required including use of all IBM Utilities and Commands in an administration and architecture role
Experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution
Strong knowledge of SQL
Understanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes
Proven ability to write excellent technical documentation

Preferred:
Certification as Database Administrator in DB2 LUW V9 through current.
While DB2 LUW is the focus of this role, knowledge and experience as a DB2 database administrator on the mainframe z/OS platform in a data sharing environment is highly desirable. The same job characteristics apply.
Knowledge of mainframe database products including CA DB2 tools, TMON monitoring, Data Studio is preferred.
